Enabling TPM with sccm deployment fails - Password is set, but no password file is provided

Original Bios v1.05

Upgrade Bios v1.08

Bios Configurator v.4.0.15.1

Windows 10 v1607

 

I'm trying to setup SCCM to automate configuring a BIOS password, enabling the TPM and storing the details in AD. I'm worndering if anyone has this setup as I'm running in some issues.

 

Setup.

1. Created a BiosPassword.bin file from the password configurator - works

2. Created a package in SCCM with the required files

3. Created TS step to set password - BIOSConfigUtility64.exe /npwdfile:BiosPassword.bin - works

4. Created step to En TPM - BiosConfigUtility64.exe /SetConfig:EnTPM1040G3.REPSET /cpwdfile:BiosPassword.bin - fails

 

Failure message:

<ERROR msg="Unable to process command. Password is set, but no password file is provided" />
<ERROR msg="BCU return value" real="10" translated="10" />
Failed to run the action: Enable TPM for HP EliteBook 1040 G3. The environment is incorrect. (Error: 0000000A; Source: Windows)

 

Testing: The TS complains about the password file yet it's the same file used to set the password.

1. Created a joint step to set password and enable TPM but fails with the same error

- BiosConfigUtility64.exe /SetConfig:EnableTPM1040G3.REPSET /nspwdfile:BiosPassword.bin

 

2. Ran the file directly from a PC - file runs and the password is accepted but cannot change TPM activation policy

TPM Activation Policy, when the PC reboots I need to hit F1
    F1 to Boot
    Allow user to reject
    *No prompts

 

3. Upgraded the Bios but I get the same two failures.

 

4. Placed a restart computer step into the TS after the Enable of TPM but makes no difference as initial file fails to run.

 

Any thoughts would be apprecaited. Don't know why I getting failed password response since the same bin file is being used. Also don't want users to be prompted to enable TPM as this removes the zero touch deployment.

Hej,

 

thank you for your prompt reply.

 

I am searching for the latest 2016 Spectre with the i7-7500U processor and was not able to find it on the swedish page. My question therefore was, weather it is possible to order a new one from USA or who can I contact here to get it.

 

I will make the suggested phone call though Smiley Happy

But is the best configuration on my budget.

Base System Device Driver Missign

Hello

I have upgraded to my laptop to windows 10 and i have a could of issies with it whcih may all be related ...

 

1st DVD Drive has Stopped Reading Disc

2nd The Volume mute button doesn't chnage colour alway shows as orange

3rd The Base System Device Driver is Missing 

 

Any help would be greatfully recieved.

Hi:

 

You need this driver for the base system device...

 

The JMicron Media Card Reader Driver enables the integrated media card slot in supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system.

For the volume mute button issue, the only suggestion I can offer would be to try the W8.1 IDT audio driver from your PC's support page and see if that resolves the problem.

 

For the DVD drive issue, the only suggestion I can offer would be to try performing the steps listed under resolution 4 at the link below...

I have been experiencing this same problem.   I plug in my Plantronics Blackwire  C320-M  headset into my PC USB port on the laptop.  The Laptop is docked in the slim dock, the the headset is connected to the laptop, not the dock.

id_helper great to hear and also not great to hear you are having the same issue. This issue with us happens when the laptop is in and out of the docking station with the usb headset plugged into the dock when the laptop is in the dock and into the side of the laptop when the laptop is not docked. Dosent matter and seems to point to a USB issue. We have opened a support case with HP and are currently working the issue but no resolution yet. Is there a possability you could open a support case too so HP can see there is an issue and it is not isolated to just one company.

 

We use Microsoft LX-6000 USB headsets and have tested this on two different machines, both 840 G3's. the first machine has older drivers and an older bios. the second machine has all updated drivers and the most recent bios (Ver 1.10 as of this writing) and does not seem to make a difference the issue still exists.
