Re: HP Envy Control Key Stuck (ctrl acts like it's being pushed when it's not)

HELP !! I have the exact same issue on my HP ENVY 15. You can be typing as normal but if you enter "b" followed by "t" the computer acts as if the ctrl key is stuck down. I'm sure there are other combinations but I know this one does it for sure. This is really fun - NOT! When you are in a browser and type w (as in www.) the browser closes! obviously a function of ^w. This issue can be proven by simply typing in a command window. Once you enter "b" followed by "t" most characters after this are all automatically prefixed by ^. Pressing the Print Button on the keyboard which sends a ^P seems to temporarily fix it. So I started thinking this was perhaps a software issue of some kind. I checked by adding a USB keyboard and the problem persisted. So I tried re-installing drivers and software related to the keyboard in fact I tried everything remotely related to the keyboard with no luck. Eventually I bit the bullet and ran the recovery tool and re-set the computer back to factory default with a fresh install of Win 7. Problem still exists!!! Ahhhhhh!! OK so maybe some hardware issue is affecting both the internal keyboard and the external. Removed the interal keyboard and blew some dust out. Unplugged all connectors and replaced them etc. Put it back together and it worked! Excellent. However, about 10 minutes later the problem re-occurred. Have spent all day on it now. Next option I think is to try a new keyboard assembly? Is it worth it? This thing needs a new battery too. Hey HP - it seems I'm not alone here. Not looking for a handout but I would love some kind of advice. Can you assist please?????
