I'm extremely later searching for this. But my HP Simple Pass hasn't been working for some time. It never bothered me because it works for windows login. I don't really use it to log into commonly visited sites because the password is generally saved. I've only recently noticed that upon logging out and logging back in that Simple Pass doesn't pop up. I tried to update, but it failed to connect to the servers. I tried to visit the authentec website, but it doesn't work. I saw a link to the newer version so I downloaded and installed that. I didn't uninstall the old version though. After all of that, it still didn't work. I decided to uninstall and reinstall. Still doesn't work on Chrome. I checked to see if the extension was there and enabled. Well it was there, but it wasn't enabled. So I enabled it. The little SimplePass icon popped up on the bar next to the menu button of Chrome. Still doesn't log me into websites. I decided to see if it works with Internet Explorer. It worked! The problem with that is I don't use IE regularly. I decided to google authentec and find out some information. Turns out, Apple acquired Authentec last year and told censor customers they would no longer offer their technology. I'm assuming that this is the reason the authentec website doesn't exist anymore and why there is no longer support for Google Chrome. The link I'm posting is just about rumors, but it is true that Apple has acquired Authentec.
