This new Envy 17 has a terribly spongy keyboard, horrible to type on it without an external keyboard.
HP Tech Support in Slovenia says they have nobody in Slovenia to correct this, so they sent it to Budapest, Hungary. HP in Hungary says there are no parts in Europe to tighten up the keyboard, and that parts (to solve a manufacturing fault in a new unit) have to come from Asia, and they have no idea when the parts might arrive. They say the best they can do is to send the New ENVY 17 back to me not repaired so I can complain to the shop I bought it from in Portugal. So much for an HP International Warranty!
This is priced as a high-end notebook, and from new, it can't be used without carting around an external keyboard. When I search for "ENVY 17 spongy keyboard" I see many people with the problem, and no solutions except "call tech support" who have no solution, and have no idea after a week when they might get parts to correct a factory fault.
I would think a computer company should be able to see when they can get parts by looking in their comnputer. Or is this a desiogn fault with no solution? If so, it is time for a world-wide recall of all ENVY 17 notebooks with spongy keyboards.
