I understand that you have been unsuccessful in updating the driver. I would suggest running the HP Support Assistant to help with resolving issue and updates. You can also run MS Fix It, to help with updates and resolving issues. You may want to consider doing a restore, back in time to a known good date.Using Microsoft System Restore in Windows Me and XP. You have an option to return it back to factory or install the original drivers Using Application Recovery (Windows 9x, Me, and XP) and Performing an HP System Recovery (Windows XP, 2006 or Later).
