For your notebook battery cutting out, and turning off the notebook without warning. I would suggest following these two documents 'Battery Does not Power Notebook or Hold a Charge', and 'Testing and Calibrating the Battery (Windows 8)'. These documents will help you calibrate the battery, so that it may last longer, and warn you when needing to be plugged in. If not, it will help you troubleshoot to find the exact cause of the issue.
