For your computer making a clicking noise, this could be the fan. I would suggest following the steps in the document 'Fan is Noisy and Spins Constantly, PC is Warmer than Normal'. This may cover more than what you are experiencing, but the steps are still good.

With your computer changing brightness on its own, please start off with the steps in the document 'Display is Dim During or After Startup or Boot'.

Now for your computer only playing YouTube videos, I would suggest the following document 'Resolving DVD and Blu-ray Movie Problems (Windows 8)'.

Now if you are still having issues after the above troubleshooting, I would need more information from you.

1) What is the full model number of your notebook? I have included the document 'Guide to finding your product number'.

2) What is the current version of Windows that you are running. I have included the document 'Which Windows operating system am I running?'.

3) What movie file types are you trying to watch? (ie. DVD/Blu-ray, Avi, or MP4).

4) What media player are you using to watch the movies?
