I grasp that you are uncomfortable with the 90 degree connection for the power cable. Here is the HP Pavilion dv6 Entertainment PC Maintenance and Service Guide, please note page 26, item 15 for the recommended replacements. The reason they provide the straight in connection, is to accommodate connecting to docking station. You can purchase an adapter to provide the angle you desire.
