Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have read your thread on your HP Pavilion 13 x2 PC and the display not being correct. Here is a link to change the display settings.
I would check each option and if it gives you to set to defaults I would choose that option. I would also look at the screen save and make sure it is on none as that could cause the black box.
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have read your thread on your HP Notebook and getting a blank or black screen on startup. You can do a system restore. When performing a hard reset please note remove any and all USB devices, and remove memory cards from the card reader slot. Disconnect all non-essential devices. If that does not help try to turn on the computer you start to press F11 repeatedly till the menu opens.
