You should update your system BIOS to the latest version.

 

As for your request, HP does not provide any other BIOS versions that the ones posted on the Support & Drivers page for your specific notebook.

If you purchased a used notebook it could just be dirty from the previous owner...especially if they had pets or were a smoker.  You could disassemble it to clean it or at least try blowing it out with a can of compressed air.

Hi everyone,

 

My BluRay optical drive stopped recognizing any disk I insert!  It treats any disk as like there is no disk is inserted!!

 

What is going on, and how to solve this problem?

I made a mistake and accept the default, enabling the HP Cient Security Manager.  I want to uninstall the program.  When I try to uninstall from the control panel, the install wizard hangs up at "computing required space."  The version is 8.3.17.2041

 

Help - the program is crap, and I really want to get rid of it.

Ok, so we have decided to try a newer modle of the hp ProBooks not knowing that they cannot connect to the preivious docking stations we had purchased. After research we have found they work with the port replicator(usb3.0 HP)all seemed well until i get a service ticket inquiring about the freezing issues, After checking the drivers and more recent version of the bios still no dice. I had opened the laptop(we keep them closed initally-obviously lol for the docks) and the laptop it self was unresponcive, ctrl alt del did nothing nor did the curser move.
- I am running the ProBook 450 G3 no hardware changes
- most recent updates and drivers
- Windows 10

- HP Port Replicator is new and functioning
- 1 pissed off employee

i replaced the motherboard in this machine now when i boot up it show a sysem  board is missing or invalid error SYSTEM BOARD (00A) then after it boots to windows normaly though

Hello everyone, I have a problem with the laptop probook 4740s which 
sometimes does not start after pressing the power button . 
After pressing the button , the LED flashes the SHIFT key, and after a 
few seconds the fans run fast . Other times the computer starts normally . 
What may be due? I tried to make a bootable USB flash bios update but it failed!

In all likelihood the drive has failed and needs to be replaced.

If your machine is in warranty you need to contact HP support so you can get a new drive.

Hello,

 

i noticed a strange behavoiur on my Elitebook Folio 1020 H9V72EA running Ubuntu 14.04.3 64 bit:

 

The core-m processor wont maintain high frequencies during longtime high-load-scenarios (thats how it is supposed to work). But:

 

- On battery power it constantly runs on approx. 1450 MHz

- docked and on ac-power it drops down to approx.1250 MHz

 

That does not seems to be right - anyone with windows having the same behaviour ?

How are you configuring the LAN/WLAN switching in the BIOS? I noticed if I used a captured BIOS config file from a G2 generation machine on a G3 generation machine, LAN/WLAN switching would not work. I needed to reset the BIOS to defaults, capture a new config from a G3 GEN machine using the HP BCU, and then apply that using HP BCU.

Hi! I have managed to solve my WiFi button and LAN/WLAN switching problem with by installing HP Hotkey Support. This was not needed before with EliteBook G1 and G2.

You can use the HP BCU referenced above. Assuming this is a new computer without a BIOS password...

 

1) Create a text file with the following and save it as biosconfig.txt.

2) Create a BAT file called hpTPMEnable.bat with the command below and place it in the Script Root of your deployment share (where all of the other MDT scripts exist). Make sure you update the locations of all the files so they reflect where you placed BIOSConfigUtility64.exe, biosconfig.txt and pwd.bin files. The account used by MDT needs to have read access to the directories you placed these files in. I recommend you put them inside of the deployment share. You will need to generate a password file (.BIN) using HPQPswd64.exe if you do not have one.

I have the 16 GB, dual hard disk, i7-6500u, 2560x1440 version.

Everything is from official HP downloads.

I am experiencing 3 issues:

1) the most important: very often, everything stops working (no mouse, no keyboard, ...) for about two seconds, then the screen goes black, then, after one second, everything recovers and a message states that the video driver crashed and was recovered. If I open Facebook in Chrome and show a picture, a vertical line of random pixel appears about 1.5 cm from the right border of the screen. If I open Firefox, almost always I get artifacts on the tabs in the upper part of the window.

2) the most boring: my bluetooth mouse stop working all of a sudden. Turning off and on the mouse doesn't fix. I can fix this issue only by resetting the PC or by putting it in standby mode by closing the lid.

3) the least frequent: wireless connection is dropped while other devices continue accessing the router flawlessly multiple times in a raw.

Is this a driver issue or is the motherboard that needs a fix?

It has to be loaded with 7 Pro 64bit

Hello,

 

I recently purchased a HP Probook 650G2. The notebook has been great, but i've noticed the fan is constantly ramping up and down. I use my laptop all day for work, and it never stops. I'm not running intensive programs and even checking task manager there is barely any load on the CPU/GPU/HDD/Ram. 

 

I've upgraded the BIOS to the newest version and made sure the option was unchecked in the BIOS for "keep fan running while using AC power"  

 

I've run the notebook on battery and AC, and it's still the same thing. 

 

I even took a video, so you can hear the fan noise...very annoying.

I'm beginning to hear this fan in my sleep...Any help, or is this normal?
