My old system is still running, albeit, slower than ever so I upgraded from 1GB to 2 GB RAM after discovering it can take 2 DIMM modules. All went well installng and getting the system to recognize the RAM, but I now notice that my AMD CPU speed is not being listed consistently in NETBIOS and System "Properties". I am now beginning to wonder if my system slowness is the CPU. All system paperwork lists the CPU as a 2GHZ AMD Athlon 64 3200+ with PowerNow technology. NETBIOS cofirms that the CPU is 2GHZ. The issue arises with the System "Properties" listing which at various times indicates the CPU is 497MHZ, 997MHZ or 2GHZ.
Does this have something to do with the so-called PowerNow tchnology? Is the CPU running at varying speeds depending on load????
Any input will be greatly appreciated - I'm going crazy trying to resolve the reason(s) for system slowness in start-up and when running multiple business apps.
