Are you talking about the quick hd test? If so, it fails with a 303 error message. It did this on the old and new drive. 

 

I forgot to mention in my original post that the new drive boots fine if you choose the "start windows normally" option from the menu after the io error (where you have a choice between windows repair and starting normally). The old drive would just constantly cycle through the IO error screen, so at least it's an improvement :-)

 

The other weird thing is that everything works perfectly fine once you're in Windows. It sometimes takes a couple ctrl-alt-deletes to get past the io error to that next screen to choose to go into Windows.
