I wasn't intending to do the work myself. I let a local professional technician do that.
I just don't want to be without my laptop for several days while it gets shipped to
and from HP, and I don't want HP to just replace the existing drive with the same
model of drive that CD manufactures say is not compatible with their products.
I'd rather have a built-in CD/DVD drive that works than a separate external drive.
Oh. Just in case there is any suspicion that the problem is in the application that
is using the CD/DVD burner, I had the same problem using 3 different applications.
These applications were Windows Media Player, Express Burn, and ImgBurn.
Is there no one out there who can answer any of my questions ?
