First step to always try is to run Microsoft Fix It, if you are on Windows 7, or lower.
Beyond that I would need to the full model number of your notebook. I have included the document 'Guide to finding your product number'. As well as the current version of Windows. If you need assistance in finding this information, please refer to the following document 'Which Windows operating system am I running?'. Please also provide me the version of DirectX that you are using.
