What can my factory warranty do?

As much as I wanted to like my new HP Pavilion dv7, I've simply had too many issues in the last year to feel good about my purchase. 

I've treated my laptop very gently, but despite my precautionary efforts I've issues with overheating, audio cutting out, and the touchpad not working. I've taken all the advice offered on this support website and otherwise, but the issues never disappear. I've simply had enough, and I want to consider my other option.

Apparently I'm covered by a factory warranty. What can I do with this and how do I go about doing it?
