You can look at its seriel number to find out. For the serial number the typical format is to have the 4th, 5th, and 6th characters to reference when the product was built.  The first character is the year date (Y) and the next two (WW), the week in that year it was made.

CCSYWWZZZZ

Hope this helps

When AC adapter is plugged-in, laprtop dischares

On my laptop HP Zbook 15 G3, I have charging probem, which appears time to time.

Sometimes when I plug in AC adaptor, after few minutes I notice that laptop does not charge. Sometimes works normally.

I already tryied followings:

1. Buy new oroiginal AC adaptor. No change.

2. If switch off laptop, disconnect apdtor and connect to the laptop again after few minutes, nothig happens. Also not charging even in off-state.

Only 1 things help me: Switch off laptop. Reset by pressing 30 sec of power button and switch on again. In this case laptop start charging.

But it very disappoints me, because I must again restart all working aplication, which was started before, and it takes a time.

Who know, what can be a problem?

RAM upgrade for ZBook 15 G5

I would like to buy a 16GB SODIMM RAM module for my ZBook 15 G5 company laptop, which already has a 16GB module on first slot (a Samsung M471A2K43DB1-CTD).

Looking in the service manual, it seems that the HP part number of the RAM chip is the following: 4VN07AA/UT#ABA. However, on the HP site in the page related to 4VN07AA part number I can only see a module whose picture seems a DIMM and not a SODIMM:

http://www8.hp.com/uk/en/products/oas/product-detail.html?oid=23379317

Is only the picture on HP URL above wrong and the 4VN07AA actually corresponds to a SODIMM chip compatible with my ZBook 15 G5 or there is a mistake in the service manual and/or that part number also corresponds to a DIMM chip (I don't think the latter should be true because a part number must identify a specific unique item). That picture is also the same in my Company's shopping catalogue I must use for work-related purchases.

Put in other words: can I buy a 4VN07AA  and be sure it will fit in my ZBook 15 G5?

Many thanks in advance to anyone who would like to answer.

Obtaining Older firmware for thunderbolt Dock G2 - MultiMonitor issues with Zbook G5 and G3

$

Well everyone it's been an exceptionally fustrating day.

I have a couple of dozen thunderbolt dock G2s, being used with a mix of Zbook 15 g3 and g5 laptops.

The G2 Thunderbolt docks were mostly working well(especially compared to the original thunderbolt docks)

However on updating 2 of them, the multi-monitor support(HP Z27 displays) has gone out the window. Randomly plugging out monitors sometimes gets them detected and displaying correctly, and sometimes just causes a blue screen.

Symtpoms are the same with multiple laptops on these docks, switching back to a dock with the base firmware and everything works fine.

Contacted HP support and asked if I could be provided the base firmware so I could downgrade the docks, and was told this wasn't possible.....

Anyone running into any similiar issues? Or was able to obtain the base firmware for the docks? At this point I'm considering just switching manufacturer.

Hello,

Thank you for your answer.

The USB\VID_8087&PID_0AAA&REV_0002 has been solved by instaling  BT_20.110.0_64_Win10.exe from the Intel website.

Since we use Microsoft Deployment Service, we exctracted the MSI from it, since the exe has no unattended switches.

USB\VID_06CB&PID_00B7&REV_0164 worked out to be the fingerprint sensor. Installed by SP92999. It contains executables, which did install by WDS. Extraction from the drivers did the job.

ACPI\VEN_HPIC&DEV_000C  is the HP application manager when we look in a default factory image. Still looking for the drivers.

HP ZBOOK 15 G2 is dead - charge light blinking

Hi community,

Today I started a long overdue Windows update (power plugged in - on AC adapter) and when I came back 10 minutes later it was dead (power off).

 - I tried to press power button - nothing - completely dead

 - I tried to take out battery, with only AC adapter in - nothing

 - Battery in/out, if AC adapter is connected the white charge LED on the back of the Notebook next to the charge plug is blinking constantly and fairly rapidly.

 - Since it is with flash drive and not regular mechanical drive I cannot hear at all if anything inside the notebook is starting up when I press the power button, but I guess not.

The Notebook is from late 2015/late 2016 and has flash drive as standard, not regular harddrive.

Does anybody know this scenario? What does the blinking mean?

Thanks to all for any help!

Docking station not recognized (solved) & 2nd external display without 4k resolution (not solved)

I am going insane. I am trying to connect my new HP Thunderbolt Docking station G2 (120W) and when I try to install the firmware, it says the following:

Unbenannt.PNG

It shows really weird behavior and it's really driving me nuts. What is working is the power as well as the DisplayPort connection. I have two LG 32" 4K displays connected. All the rest is not working and I can't figure out why.

I wasn't very smart, I hadn't activated the Thunderbolt connection and as such, it wasn't established, this has now been fixed and works now. The second issue still prevails.

With the displays, I have another problem of its own. The one display has a 4K resolution, the integrated display also shows 4K, but the second monitor only shows a lower resolution and I can't change it:

Unbenannt2.PNG

According to the following document, the docking station should be able to handle this load:

https://content.etilize.com/User-Manual/1045971206.pdf

On page 11, it says that two monitors with 4K would be supported with my docking station.

Can anyone help me out here? I am desperate and I regret that I spent as much money as I have on this and end up worse than with the setup of a six-year old laptop + docking station.

My setup:

- Elitebook G5 850

- Thunderbolt G2 Docking Station 120W

- 2x LG 32" 4K Displays

- Several devices connected to the docking station to no avail

Thanks in advance

Elitebook x360 1030 G3 brightness strongly varying with viewing angle

Hi,
I just got my new Elitebook x360 1060 G3 with the 700nit, 120Hz, Sure View, anti-glare display with and I realized, that the brightness strongly depends on the viewing angle to the display. The drop in brightness is ok when you look from the side to the screen but it's pretty bad when the screen is pointing to much up or down.
In normal Laptop mode its ok, since you can adjust the screen such that it is perfectly perpendicular to the line of sight, but you really have to get the angle right, otherwise you see a hard drop of brightness at the top or bottom of the screen (depending on how the angle is off) In tablet mode its worse: when the tablet is flat on the table for note taking, the viewing angle is never perfectly perpendicular and thus the screen is really dim. I have to max out the brightness indoors at normal light conditions to be able to see reasonably well what's going on (or I have to move my Head straight over the screen where the brightness is ok)
Is this the normal behaviour or is there something wrong with my screen?

Thanks for any feedback
Grebos

I think you should start with a BIOS update and verify that you have the latest version. After that verify that your security settings in BIOS are set to no security.
If it still isn´t working try to run HP image assistant and see who drivers are missing.

About the shipping date

I ordered my new notebook a little while ago. It was a customize-and-buy option for the X360, but I did not put any customized options on my order for it. Would this affect the shipping time making it shorter or longer of a process?

I've done the BIOS update.

I went into the security settings and don't exactly know what you are referring to when you say the security settings in BIOS. There was a tab with Security, there were several things on there, but nothing struck me as a yes or no question. Could you elaborate maybe?

Edit: I've now run Image Assistant and updated every single driver and still to no avail. I am not mistaken in thinking that the laptop can handle three 4K displays (2 external + 1 internal display), correct?

I can't remember the BIOS password for my laptop. This was a super expensive laptop and I need help. Is there a way to reset it?

HP 840 G3 BIOS password set after changing boot mode - How can I remove this?

$

Hi

I was changing the boot mode to Legacy Mode with SecureBoot turned off.  After a reboot, there is now a BIOS password in place.  There was not a BIOS password prior to this.

Second laptop in three weeks that has had this issue.  Same model, too.

Any idea how this password got set?  Ways to remove it?

We'll likely have to go to HP to get the BIN file to reset it, but that's going to take some time as it's a customer's device and we have to get the proof of purchase from them first.

We were rolling this machine back to the clients Windows 7 build, requiring the change in boot mode - just in case you were wondering.

Any help or thoughts greatly appreciated.

Andrew
