I just bought a new HP ProBook and I've just noticed it is supplied with Bitlocker enabled on the system drive.
I only use the laptop in a secure location for general home PC use. Please advise:
Normally business machines have Bitlocker enabled. It is up to you to make decision. Please check the following article
For BIOS, please check

I just bought anew ProBook. I noticed the HP driver hpdskflt.sys is associated with all drives. What is this for and which HP program installs this driver since I might wish to remove the program?
Dismantled the laptop, found a backlight cable and turned it off.
My Elitebook went back to HP under warranty as the screen starting breaking away from the lid. I reset Windows before dispatch, and so had to reinstall everything when it was returned to me. Despite working through all the various HP and Windows updates carefully the headphone socket (which was fine before the repair) will not function. When headphones are plugged in the laptop speakers keep playing, and no sound comes thru the headphones.
I checked inside the socket for any physical issue, and that looks ok.
Have tried manually deleting the drivers and reinstalling, rebooting etc etc and no progress. As HP support are shut until Monday does anyone have any ideas? It seems most likely that the issue is software rather than hardware.
Perfect, I am really glad to hear that the issue is resolved. However, this is disable the back light permanently.
If any other questions arise, please feel free to write back to me.
Cheers!
Thanks for the help, this solution suited me.
You're welcome!

hi
i just bought my hp probook 640 g1 windows 8 . try to enter setup it showed (Enter Bios Password )
i need a help
Hi:
Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do to help you, since HP will no longer supply the required SMC.bin file that is used to clear the BIOS password.
That was the only way it could be done.
HP issued this document recently...
https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c06368824
Also the forum rules were amended on 1 March 2019, which no longer allow us to help with removing BIOS passwords.
Rule 4.d...

Trying to install HP USB-C Mini Dock to my new HP Spectre 360 Laptop. Plugged it in, but does not work.

The HP Elitebook 840 G5 laptop that I bought today i.e. on Aug 17, 2019 has the wrong warranty start date. The warranty status tells me the warranty start date is March 25, 2019 which gives me only 9 months warranty period. I would like to get this corrected. I have all relevant invoices available.
Thanks in advance,
Tahniat
Are they compatible ? Does your HP Spectre x360 has suitable USB-C port ? What is it ? Please read the specs of the dock

Please contact HP in your area and ask them to fix this. I don't know where you bought your machine but the Elitebook 840 G5 machines normally have 3 years warranty
Regards.
@Banhien
Thank you for your response!
My reseller gave me the option of 1 and 3 years. I will contact them and find out if I can get the start date of warranty fixed.
Thanks once again!

The system is a HP mobile workstation - Elitebook 8730w. When the system is turned off, you will be hearing a ticking sound from it continuously. If it is not plugged to the mains, when you try putting it on after sometime - say 1 - 2 hours, you will find that the battery has been drained. I'm thinking the battery drains because of that sound. Is it normal to have that sound which drains the battery?
